• Hire, train, nurture and maintain a staff dedicated to delivering “E3” (exceptional experiences everyday) personal attention and the highest quality of training possible.
• Responsible for Fitness sales goals including One-on-One, Small Group and Team Training.
• Achieve budgeted revenue and expense goals for the Fitness Department.
• Create programming structure, and scheduling and actively market said programs to grow the Fitness Department.
• Lead by example by displaying an aesthetic sense to ensure the Fitness Areas, Spin, Pilates, Group Ex, Pool, Cardiovascular and Yoga areas are in “camera ready” condition at all times, including cleanliness and equipment maintenance.
• Lead Daily communication with personal training staff and ensure our “E3” standards are met.
• Demonstrate initiative in creating and implementing new and better means of increasing customer satisfaction and revenue.
• Communicate on a daily basis with the appropriate staff all information deemed necessary for the successful operation of the Fitness Department.
• Meet with the General Manager weekly or as needed. Attend weekly management team meetings and be prepared with to discuss key metrics for the department.
• Effectively demonstrate that, by the nature of the fitness club industry, it is necessary to work days, nights, weekends and some holidays to provide “E3” superior service.
• Conduct annual performance evaluations of staff under your leadership.
• Provide feedback to staff on a regular basis and develop a system of recognizing and rewarding excellent performance.
• Enforce club policies, follow procedures for disciplinary actions (oral and written), maintain records and documentation of employee actions, conduct exit interviews and execute firings, when necessary.
• Lead by example: Exhibit professionalism, proper attitude and work habits; adhere to policies; maintain personal health and fitness; present proper grooming and club approved attire; remove trash and debris both inside and outside the facility; support Wellgate standards and policies.
• Encourage career development.
• Stay informed of new trends and ideas related to the club industry.
• Approve new programs and services.
• Approve bi-weekly payroll.
• May perform other functions as assigned.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications: Upon hire, the Director of Fitness must:
• Possess a bachelor’s degree in a related health/fitness field or possess a national certification in personal training
• Have a current CPR certification
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills
• Comfortably use technology (excel, word)
• Display a positive attitude
• Demonstrate good organizational skills
• Constantly interact with members and guests

In addition, the ideal candidates will posses some of the following skills/attributes:
• Functional training experience
• Management or supervisory experience
• Sales and promotional aptitude
• Customer service orientation
• Ability to work with others as a team player
• Accounting and computer skills
• Proven leadership skills
• Time management skills
• Interpersonal skills

Success is measured by:
• Personal Training- Number of Personal Training sessions and revenue.
• Group Personal Training - Number of Personal Training sessions and revenue.
• Special Events Programming- (Boot Camps, Fitness Surveys…etc) Number of participants involved in programs and special events revenue.
